St. Luke's Bulls vs. Ottawa Police Basketball Game and BBQ

On Sunday, July 15, 2007 the St. Luke's Bulls hosted their 3rd annual Police Services Basketball Game and BBQ at St. Luke's Park in beautiful downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This year's contest was the most competitive Police/Bulls game to date, with a final score of 77 - 81 in favour of the Bulls. Sporting new gold jerseys, the Bulls appeared to have the game well in hand by halftime, but Police Chief Vernon White took to the mic at the half to address the fans and motivate his troops. His team did not let him down. The Police responded with an outstanding second half, and kept the game very close with balanced scoring, crisp passing and excellent team defense. The Bulls responded by raising their own intensity and making the necessary adjustments at both ends of the court. Coaching from the bench was intense at times, with both teams making strategic use of their fouls and timeouts down the stretch. Merrick Palmer turned in the best performance for the Police Services team, with 17 points, 3 boards and 2 assists. Bulls' shooting guard, Sean Rodrigues, played up to his usual standard, and once again earned MVP honours with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. This year's game received good coverage by local radio, television and newspaper media. Ottawa Citizen: www.canada.com The BBQ following the game was enjoyed by all. Respect to those who made it happen, Tonya Bender, Dan Shields, Lee Mullowney and Louis M.
